Green Shelf Counseling

Therapists Delivering Online Counseling

The Green Shelf, LLC specializes in providing online counseling services to individuals looking to save time or those who want counseling from a convenient location. Our therapists provide counseling in a safe and confidential manner. Our owner, April D. Brown, has over 7 years of experience working with children and families.

While working in other professional settings, Mrs. Brown recognized the need for online counseling services and decided to start her own private practice. Mrs. Brown wants to offer counseling services to those who need flexibility and those living in remote areas. She believes everyone should have convenient access to counseling when they need it.

Our therapists work with many different clients. We primarily help clients with the concerns below, but we are not limited to these.

  • Managing stress and anxiety
  • Healing from racial trauma
  • Pregnancy complications and or loss
  • Teenage issues and concerns

Teenagers (13+)

Teenagers often struggle with behavioral, academic, and socioemotional concerns. Fitting in at school, avoiding peer pressure, and earning good grades can cause teenagers to experience negative emotions. Through individual counseling, we address your child’s specific needs. We also work with parents and their children to help them navigate challenges at home and school. Finally, we help parents communicate their child’s needs within the school environment. For example, if your child has a 504, academic, and or behavioral plan (e.g., RTI/SST/MTSS), or Individualized Educational Program (IEP), we can support you.

Stress and Anxiety

Stress and anxiety are a normal part of life, but sometimes they lead to excessive fear and worry. As a result, you may experience negative physical symptoms such as headaches and stomachaches. Feelings of nervousness and racing thoughts are also common. We provide individual therapy and support to help you reduce stressors, develop coping skills, and discover inner peace.

Racial Trauma

Racial trauma is the emotional, psychological, and physical reactions to personal experiences with harassment and discrimination that cause pain. Exposure to acts of racism, hate crimes, institutional racism, microaggressions, racist comments, racial discrimination, and or racial profiling can contribute to racial trauma. We can help you process these traumatic experiences in a safe space. You will connect with other individuals who have experienced racial trauma in group therapy.

Pregnancy Complications/Loss

Black women are at high risk for pregnancy complications and perinatal loss more than any other ethnic group. Fearing or experiencing the loss of a child can be detrimental to your mental health and overall well-being. Finding someone to talk to that understands your pain is difficult. You are not alone. We provide a support group for women dealing with the challenges of motherhood. Through our counseling process, we help you work through the pain to restore your peace and happiness.
