Are you worried about your teen? For example, is your teen skipping classes, earning poor grades, or lacking self-confidence? Maybe your teen won't open up to you. I help teens with behavioral, academic, and socioemotional concerns. I also show parents how to communicate effectively with their teen.

Have you been stressed and overwhelmed lately? Is work overwhelming? Do you need more "ME" time? Is your to-do list keeping you up at night? Work is becoming unbearable, and you feel like you never have time for yourself. To cope, you might settle for a glass of wine at the end of the day or go straight to bed when you get home. In bed, you struggle falling asleep or sleeping through the night because the racing thoughts won't stop. I help women manage stress and anxiety so that you can have more peace of mind and happiness.

Have you experienced or witnessed an act of racism? Are you feeling overwhelmed by the state of our country? Maybe you fear or worry about the safety of your children. I am here to help you process these uncomfortable feelings. I want you to find peace despite everything that is going on in our society and around you.

Have you experienced a miscarriage recently? Maybe you just want the pain to go away. You want to hold your baby. You wish God would have taken you instead. You tried talking to loved ones, but they don't understand. I help you develop coping skills to handle the pain associated with grief and loss. I get it, and I can help people get through it.

I know what you are going through is not easy. Asking for help can also feel scary. But you are here and taking the necessary steps to work through it. I make therapy a safe place for you to talk about your pain and to heal from it. You and I will work together, set goals, and start your journey to healing.

Teens (13+)

Teenagers often struggle with behavioral, academic, and socioemotional concerns. Fitting in at school, avoiding peer pressure, and earning good grades can cause teenagers to experience negative emotions. Through individual counseling, I address your child’s specific needs. I also work with parents and their children to help them navigate challenges at home and school. 

Finally, I assist parents with communicating their teens needs within the school environment. For example, if your child has a 504 plan, academic, and or behavioral plan (e.g., RTI/SST/MTSS), or Individualized Educational Program (IEP), I can support you by attending school meetings and or writing letters on your behalf.

Stress and Anxiety

Stress and anxiety are a normal part of life, but sometimes they lead to excessive fear and worry. As a result, you may experience negative physical symptoms such as headaches, sweating, and tightness in your chest. Feelings of nervousness and racing thoughts are also common. I provide individual therapy to help you reduce stressors, develop coping skills, and improve your self-care.

Racial Trauma

Racial trauma is the emotional, psychological, and physical reactions to personal experiences with harassment and discrimination that cause pain. Exposure to acts of racism, hate crimes, institutional racism, microaggressions, racist comments, racial discrimination, and or racial profiling can contribute to racial trauma. What you experienced is real and I know it hurts like hell. I can help you process these traumatic experiences in a safe space, so that you can walk through life feeling empowered. 

Pregnancy Loss

Black women are at high risk for pregnancy complications and pregnancy loss more than any other ethnic group. Fearing or experiencing the loss of a child can be detrimental to your mental health and overall well-being. Finding someone to talk to that understands your pain is difficult. I provide individual and group counseling for women dealing with grief or loss. Through the counseling process, I help you work through the pain and develop coping skills to restore your inner peace.
